does your period ever come late and you start to wonder if you’re pregnant despite the fact the most intimate thing you’ve ever done is shake hands?

48 years ago a girl said “oh fuck me” to her best friend while walking in the street, a guy who randomly passed by answered by “let me at least buy you dinner first”. I present to you my grandparents, in love since then and celebrating their 47 years of marriage today.

Reading through #coverflip, I’m wondering how many of these people realize that if J0hn Gr33n would have been a woman, he wouldn’t have been blown up into a ridiculously overhyped stereotypical Male Author like he has been? And that’s worth more conversation than book covers, isn’t it?
I think…
But see, I think that’s the point. The assumed readership is often for females since a female writer wrote the book. I liked what maureen johnson said on her blog about how boys often don’t read “girl” books because the covers may be too “girly.” I think that’s why the coverflip is a cool idea, not necessarily because the gender is flipped, but because the marketing/cover is flipped to the opposite/neutral gender.
here’s my submission for maureen johnson’s coverflip challenge! it’s for Code Name Verity, which is by Elizabeth Wein. Click here to see the original cover. i know this may not be the most “well-known” book around town, but IT SHOULD BE BECAUSE IT’S AMAZING. anyway, if you haven’t read it, check it out!
(P.S. The pic is not mine and is from google!)
